Changed Life

In May, I had the opportunity to go to Europe on a mission trip. That was the fourth trip I had been on and God was very kind to teach me something. During my quiet time on the plane, I read in Mark Chapter 5, where Jesus cast out the legion of demons in the country of Gerasenes. The story itself was awesome, but it was what Jesus said to the man that really struck me. Right after he cast out the demons, the man asked to follow Jesus.

19 And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.”

What struck me in those verses was the simplicity of the Gospel. Jesus told the man to go home and tell his friends and family what the Lord had done! That’s all he asked him to do – open his mouth and share. It is so easy for me to get caught up in the details and insecurities of sharing my faith: “How do I share without offending someone?” or “What if they don’t accept what I say?” Jesus doesn’t’ want me to worry so much about that. Jesus didn’t tell that man, “Go and study what the prophets said about me.” or “Make sure you learn the best way to share the Gospel from this specific book.” He said to go home and tell others what the Lord had done.

It’s the same for you — you already know your story — it’s what Jesus has done in your life. Go tell someone. Once Jesus saves you, you’re like that man; you need to tell others about Him. Go home and tell your friends what the Lord has done for you! It’s that simple. Just open your mouth.

One practical way to share your story is to write it out. Take some time and write out what God has done for you, print some copies and share them. Hand them out. Post them on your social media pages. Let others know what the Lord has done for you! How can you share your story?
