Made Complete

By God’s grace and because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, I am being made complete. I love that truth.

All of my children are now 21 years old (and older), living their adult lives and following the Lord for themselves. My role as a father looks very different now from the days of changing diapers, coaching flag football, giving white knuckle driving lessons, and doing my best to instill godly principles. Those are sweet memories that I will always cherish.

But, I also realize I am not done being a father. Indeed, God has even more for me now as the father of adult children and as a granddad. He is still teaching and helping me day in and day out, as I pray for the precious lives of my children and continue to speak into their lives. I am still very much a father.

This reminds me of how God the Father promises to complete what He started in us. Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

God will continually pour His redemptive and regenerative work into our lives right up until the moment we leave this life and join Him in the next. He completes us. He never gives up on us. The Apostle Paul said it so well in his final words to the church in Corinth. “Finally brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11

On the road to completion!
