Special Message

With hearts of faith and a clear sense of leading from the Lord, I want to share some difficult yet exciting news with you.

This past weekend, we announced at all of our locations, that after eight years of incredible ministry in Utah County, we will be closing down The Provo Rock location on December 27. There have been many factors in making this decision and as leaders, we have sought the Lord diligently and trust that He is leading.

From the start, our Provo location has been a bit of a “mission outpost”, ministering to all sorts of people and the incredible diversity we’ve had has been a glory to God. We will not know the full extent of what God has done there until we see Jesus face to face but, at the very least, we stepped out in faith (anything done in faith is never in vain). I Corinthians 15:58 reminds us, “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”

A couple of the major components leading to this decision were the need to re-allocate our resources and our leaders.

The Provo location has been dependent on the other locations for financial support and has not been able to become self-sufficient enough to cover operation and staff costs. With budget challenges for The Rock Churches across the board, we as leaders have had to make some difficult decisions regarding buildings and staff.

We yearn to be good stewards of all that God has given us. Our other locations have been experiencing explosive growth, especially at our new building in Draper — they could use our help! We have always wanted to be a church on mission (Win the Lost, Build the Believer, Send the Sanctified). This sometimes requires a change of strategy and joining God when and where He is moving. Many of the core people from Provo will be plugging into the Draper location.

God is definitely moving in Utah and we are still pursuing our Rock Vision — to see “One life at a time one world in our lifetime”. We are stepping forward in faith and will diligently try to communicate this sensitive information in a God-honoring way during this transition.

The Rock leaders will make a special effort to answer any questions you may have, so please feel free to talk to any of them. Feel to contact us via email or phone. We are planning a Prayer & Praise Service in Provo on December 6, our Christmas Service December 20 and a final prayer service in Provo on December 27.

Please pray for us during this important and challenging transition. Hebrews 13:8 encourages us, “Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things.”

Sincerely,

Steve McInroy (Mac) and all of the pastors of The Rock Church
