Creation A Word by Pastor Tony D'Amico

Do you ever feel like it’s hard to talk to people about God because you can’t think of a simple way to start the conversation? There’s actually a great “lead-in” (and one that is easily overlooked). We admire it on a daily basis, or at least we should. We live in a world where the Creation itself speaks to the divinity of God.

Paul wrote to the Romans, “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” — Romans 1:19-20 (ESV)

Two characteristics of God (His power and His divinity) are invisible to the eye but clearly revealed in nature. They can be seen in what He has created. Everything that is designed, everything that is created, needs a creator. You don’t see a beautiful piece of art or even an attractive soda can that can appear by itself. Someone created it. Paul wanted the Romans to understand, “Look around you, look at the ocean, the stars, the sun, the animals, the mountain, the flowers, and all of the other things in we see in nature. They all point back to a Creator!”

God reveals Himself through His Creation! The entire natural world bears witness to God through its amazing beauty, depth, design, and usefulness. This truth puts everyone in a position to be without excuse. No one can say that God has neglected to give evidence of His existence and character. The fault is with those who reject the evidence.

You can rest in knowing that God reveals Himself to all people through His Creation. Use Gospel opportunities like these when discussing “How are you enjoying the weather?” to then talk about the wonderfully amazing God we serve! It’s a ready made “lead in” to sharing the Gospel.

Standing in awe of our Creator –

Tony
