Lasko Grant - The Rock Church

We have amazing news for you – are you sitting down? (more…)

God has seen fit to bless us with a grant (gift) for up to $486,000 for the construction of our new worship space that we are currently building in Draper! We are NOT kidding! We just got an email from the senior vice president of the John C. Lasko grant (the grant we’ve been praying for) letting us know the good news. God is so kind to us! Why not thank Him right now for His amazing, extravagant blessings. Here is a great verse that reminds us of God’s provision: “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” (Exodus 23:20) Amen! God is providing and leading us!

  2. Building Update – March 31, 2014

    building update

We are excited that the steel has been delivered to the land and it will go up this week! This will add great visual to the project, most of the work that has been done has been on the ground. Now you will see the building start to take shape. (more…)

The steel construction crew will be on the land all this week and our Appreciation Team will be there to serve them. Because the graffiti party was cancelled, you are welcome to go sign the steel girders when the construction workers are on-site, and the steel to be signed is set aside, by the work trailer.

Please take some time and pray for these things for the construction:

    • Safety for the workers
    • Finances for the church
    • Good weather for construction
    • That the steel workers can come to know Christ

We also have a special need on Saturday April 12. We need twelve men that can spread gravel. Underneath the concrete slab of the church, we need to spread gravel 4″ thick. We need the volunteers to be there all day to do this! Please sign up on the volunteer list at church if you would like to help, or contact Tony Rehmer.

    Building Update — March 21, 2014

Well, work is progressing rapidly! We are still pouring footings – should finish this week. All of our steel will be delivered next week and put up the week after that! Don’t miss out on the many opportunities to help with the building. (more…)

We have 3 specific teams/areas where we need help. We have a Prayer Team to pray for safety, the workers come to know Christ, good weather, our finances, etc. We have an Appreciation Team to show God’s love through food, coffee, water, signs, messages, notes, and cards. We have a Volunteer Team to help lighten the load of work on site. They will be cleaning, sweeping and when they can, helping with construction. This team probably won’t be doing any of the actual building, but maybe unboxing lights, carrying drywall, or laying carpet squares, etc.

Please note that there are Bibles at each campus that we want everyone in our congregations to sign, put notes in, write a message, or underline their favorite verse. These Bibles will be buried in the concrete at each corner of the building. We will also be having a “Holy Graffiti” party Sunday, March 30 from 1:00 – 2:00p.m. on site. We can sign the steel girders, write verses, notes to God, or notes to the construction workers. It will be a fun party that you won’t want to miss. Contact Tony Rehmer if you are interested in serving.

Prepared, a word from pastor Bill Young

“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” — Exodus 23:20 (NIV)

I read this verse last week in my quiet time. What an exciting visual — God’s angels leading the way to a place Jesus has prepared for our church. I have been claiming this verse for a “home of our own” — our own Sandy/Draper facility — since 2006. (more…)

It was encouraging to read my notes from years past regarding this special promise that God gave me. Here are a few things I wrote in the margins of my Bible next to this verse:

    • “God will prepare, protect, and provide us with a building at the proper time” (not dated)
    • “Promise for Sandy building” (February 6, 2008)
    • “Ditto” (February 6, 2013)
    • “Got Land Disturbance permit February 5, 2014!”

Wow! Getting our own building has indeed been a dream for a long time. We know it will bring legitimacy, stability, and opportunity like never before. This influence will translate into more salvations, baptisms, and changed lives!

It’s hard to believe that the dream is quickly becoming a reality. Since last week, the excavators have been on our property changing the landscape, leveling earth, burying power line conduit and rapidly preparing us to begin building a home of our own! God is so good!

I just want to take this time to thank God, and all of you who have prayed, given sacrificially, and worked so hard to make this facility a reality. God will honor your labors of love and your faith. Many lives will be changed, challenged, and forever influenced because of you.

Finally, I want to encourage you to attend our official Groundbreaking Ceremony scheduled for Sunday, March 2 from 2:00-3:00p.m. at the Draper property. It’s our opportunity to officially kick off what will prove to be one of the most exciting chapters in the history of The Rock Church. God’s angels are going before us to prepare this place — won’t you join us as well?

  5. Pre-Construction Stewardship Linkage Survey

For those that are interested in filling out the Pre-Construction Stewardship Linkage Survey, take a few moments to read this letter from Joe Morello (BGW Contractor).

    Dear Rock Church family members,

The success of the Building God’s Way process is further enhanced through our collective ability to identify and embrace those within The Rock family and your surrounding local communities who have the Lord’s blessings and gifts to provide construction services and the ability to supply materials and/or equipment in support of the construction phase. You are all an extremely important part of this process and we seek your help.

Here is a list of the tasks and information we seek. Your thoughts with regards to helping us identify an individual or business that could possibly support the church with these needs is greatly appreciated. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY. BGW|CS will review your submittals and then move forward with these suggestions by way of “Vision Casting” / “Pre-Construction Stewardship” meetings.

We would, of course, prefer individuals or businesses that already have a heart for the church and its ministry, but it is not required as you support this request. Likewise, it is not required that they subscribe to our faith-based beliefs. At our VC/PCS outreach meetings, The Rock’s vision will be presented, and through prayer for all who attend, we will trust our Lord to move within each of them.

We are all extremely thankful for your consideration of supporting this next step. Once again, please remember that you are being asked not to contact any of those individuals or businesses directly. God’s blessings to you all.

    Your Brother in Christ,

    Joe Morello, Managing Partner
    BGW Construction Services, LLC

    Surrounded by Bill Young

“For surely, O Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12).

It’s been a couple months since we completed our Roots 2.0 capital campaign, and things related to our building are moving right along. God’s favor has been with us like a strong shield. His blessing is evident.

It appears that we’ll be in our current Sandy location at least until September. Our landlord has told us we can stay until their new building on the corner is completed. What new building? Exactly. They haven’t even broken ground yet, so it could be even longer before we have to move out. Thank you, Lord!

Regarding our new building in Draper, we’re chugging along full steam ahead with pre-construction details. We signed a contract with our architect (Building God’s Way in Ogden) and all construction documents should be finalized by the end of September. Once that’s complete, we can get bids from subcontractors and begin building. We’re also checking into fast-tracking all the excavation work as a separate project with the city of Draper which would allow us to put down footings and pour the foundation while the construction documents are being finished, hopefully by Labor Day. This would be such a huge head-start, so please pray for this. If all goes well, we’ll be in our new building by spring!

We’ve also been working through all the remaining details to secure financing for the project, which should be finalized within 60-90 days.

One big prayer request is still hanging over our heads (literally), and that’s the cost of burying the power lines on the property. Rocky Mountain Power is estimating between $120,000 to $150,000 to do this, so please pray that we’re able to find a solution for WAY cheaper!

Overall, we really feel like God is going before us, and we’re so excited to grow our roots down deep by having a home of our own. God’s favor is a wonderful thing, and because of amazing, generous, excited, loyal people like you we can look forward to many years of fruitful labor in Utah! Thanks again for your pledges and your faithful giving toward your commitment. Lives will be changed because you gave. Eternity already is.

Surrounded by the favor of God,
