Everybody has a desire to feel wanted. It’s one of our greatest motivators. Whether it’s a text message, phone call, email, or someone stopping by the house. It’s always encouraging to be on the receiving end of feeling wanted.

Of course there are times where we don’t feel loved, encouraged, or even the feeling of being wanted at all. We can suppress and ignore these feelings. We can let them become something that drives us into fear and depression. Or they can even become something we idolize. Whatever we do with the feeling of being wanted, we can’t ignore them.

Feeling unwanted is one of the worst feelings. I know, because I’ve been there many, many times. Yet, according to the Bible, it’s a feeling that we don’t have to experience ever again.

This truth stopped me in my tracks the other day when I came across this verse in the Gospel of John. “Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am.” (John 17:24)

Did you catch it? Whenever you may feel unloved and unwanted, the truth is that Jesus is praying for you and desires to be with you, Christian. Think about this; the most Important, Valuable, All-Satisfying Person to have ever existed LOVES you. He knows you. He has purchased and redeemed you. His desire is for you to be with Him. That should bring so much joy to our hearts that we jump up out of our chairs!

The President of the United States doesn’t want to hang out with me. The Queen of England doesn’t pray for me. Michael Jordan and Tom Hanks have no desire for my affection. But the God of the Universe, Jesus Christ, does. His desire right now is for us to be at home with Him, for eternity, in Heaven.

And that, is the best feeling in the world.

Feeling desired,

Bryan
