We are taking a short break from our Centered on Christ series and doing a three-part series names, Begin with Honor, here is the description. 2012 should be an interesting year. Many of us are still reeling in the wake of 2011’s deep recession, high unemployment, and sluggish economy. Times are tough for almost everyone, including The Rock. In a new three-part series, we’ll discover how we can not only survive but also thrive in the coming year! What does God have to say about money that can help us through these economic cyclones? Join us as we learn biblical financial principles that begin and end with honoring God. Beginning January 7 — all services, all locations.

Uswirl for Roots

Who would have thought you could enjoy a great dessert while helping pay off our new land? From 6:00 — 11:00 p.m. on Friday night, November 25, The Rock will receive 20 percent of all sales at Uswirl Frozen Yogurt in Sandy (10367 S State Street) as a part of our Roots fundraiser. Doesn’t get any better than that! Bring all your family members, friends, neighbors, cats and dogs!

Gifts of Christmas

Our annual ladies’ Christmas event has found a wonderful way to serve those in need and spread a little Christmas cheer! This year we’ll be making 600 sandwiches for the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen at 2:00 p.m on Sunday, December 4. Food donations from anyone in the church would be greatly appreciated. THIS SATURDAY, July 23, The Rock will be hosting our second annual 5K run starting at 8:30 a.m. As last year, the entry fee is $30 per individual (includes a free Tshirt) or $50 per family (includes two free Tshirts), and since all proceeds go toward the Roots program, your entry fee is completely tax-deductible! TRM Arts Festival

We had over 200 people turn out for our second TRM arts festival last Friday night, most of whom were visitors! And that’s exactly why we have this event — so people who wouldn’t normally step inside a church might cross the threshold and hear a message that will change their lives forever. May God work in the lives of these individuals to make it so.

CANCELLED: All-Church Campout

Unfortunately, there is still about two feet of snow at Blackhawk Campground, so we regret to announce that this year’s campout scheduled for June 17-19 has been cancelled. For those who had already registered, the church office will be contacting you about your refund. So sorry!

Mission to Honduras

The Rock is heading back to Honduras! To help support this trip, we’ll be holding a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, June 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We’ll also be taking children’s shoes, school supplies and backpacks to Honduras to distribute to the children. If you have items you would like to donate, there is a box in the lobby (downtown and Sandy) where you may place your donations. Not everyone is able to go on our upcoming mission trip to Europe this fall, but we can ALL go to the fundraiser dinner and auction at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, at Noah’s (322 W 11000 S in South Jordan). If you missed the big announcement last week, we topped the $1 million mark on our Roots: Growing Deep for Further Reach campaign. Praise God how He has worked through the sacrifice of His children! Let’s continue to be faithful with our pledges so we can finish strong for the final payment on our land due in December.

Baby Dedications (SLC)

Dedicating a child to the Lord acknowledges God’s sovereignty not only over the child, but also over Mom and Dad. This is a special time for parents to come before God, submitting themselves to His wisdom as they seek to carry out their parental responsibilities.
