Boasting Only In What Christ Has Done (Romans 15:14-21)

In part 44 of our Romans series, we are studying Chapter 15:14-21. In these verses, the Apostle Paul begins his personal note to the Roman readers. He shares his reasoning for writing to the Saints in Rome and what His personal motivation for proclaiming the gospel among the Gentiles. We can learn from Paul's view of his identity, purpose, and mission, and we will discuss how that applies to our lives today.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-1

We absolutely live in an age when everyone is right in their own eyes. Most people don’t even consider that their decisions could be wrong or their actions harmful. At the same time, everybody is on their own path, trying to figure out how to navigate life. Also, endless resources and influences are waiting to tell them exactly what they want to hear.

Generally considered by many to be “the greatest letter ever written,” Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans teaches Christians foundational and unchanging truth found in the Word of God. The book of Romans shares the truth about God, His righteousness, and godly living. From start to finish, this letter gives us the right path to take — one that allows us to live a life by faith in a world spinning out of control.
