Too Great For Me To Understand

Too Great For Me To Understand — a word by Pastor Caleb Yetton from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Who are we that He would show us such great love and affection? Assuredly, it is too great for me to understand."

“Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!” — Psalm 139:6

Psalm 139 is definitely one of my favorite chapters in the entire Bible. The picture that David paints of God’s goodness and closeness is so comforting. It is nearly impossible to read those words and not feel God’s love. Without a doubt, it truly is too great for me to understand!

Do you feel like God is distant? Maybe you feel like He doesn’t understand you? Then, I would encourage you to read Psalm 139 and let His Truth change those thoughts.

He Knows Me

One of my favorite parts of the chapter is verses 1-5. God knows everything about me. He knows about my innermost thoughts. I cannot hide my heart’s intentions from Him. In fact, there is nowhere I can go to hide from Him.

And what does He show me after He sees all of me (including the good, the bad, and the ugly)? LOVE!

His Precious Thoughts

Verse 17 tells us His thoughts toward His children are precious. The Hebrew word used is yāqar. It means to esteem, be prized, valuable, precious, or costly. This is the way that God thinks of you, Christian. Even if you may not think so highly of yourself or others. The Lord’s thoughts toward you are always precious.

Who are we that He would show us such great love and affection? Assuredly, it is too great for me to understand.

Loved Me At My Worst

The Rock Music recently released a new song that Steele and I wrote, inspired by Psalm 139. It’s called “Loved Me At My Worst.” We would surely appreciate it if you could check it out and share it with others around you.

Grace and peace,

Caleb
