“As for the saints who are on the earth, they are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight.” — Psalm 16:3
The night before our first English club meeting, Frank Apiza encouraged our team with these words. What a beautiful reminder that God’s delight in each one of us—even before our mission work begins.
A Wonderful First Day
Praise God—our first day of English club was a great success! Thank you for joining us in prayer. We truly felt that each of yesterday’s prayer requests was answered. Every student who attended was loved and valued by our team.
We had 21 students join us for the first session. The discussion focused on the topic of families, which opened the door for several students to share about difficult experiences in their own lives. As they spoke, we could sense that they felt our compassion and genuine care for their stories. They know that we are here to listen and to love them.
God’s Power in Conversation
During the small group discussions, Ava shared how the Lord has been her peace during seasons of anxiety. Her openness was powerful and moving—truly a testimony to God’s healing presence in our lives.
Later that evening, we had at least six students join us for dinner, and we’re trusting the Lord to bring even more tomorrow. I had the opportunity to share my testimony with Beatrice, who was visibly moved and teared up as she listened. Please pray for her—she’s such a sweet spirit, and I believe Jesus is drawing her closer to Himself.
Building Relationships That Matter
Each of us had meaningful, personal conversations with students throughout the day. In Italian culture, relationships are deeply valued, and we can already see how God is opening doors for genuine connection. Even on this first day, He has allowed us to dive deep into conversations and show the students that we truly care about their lives.
We’ve also begun inviting students to Saturday’s excursion, and several have already expressed excitement about coming. Lord willing, every seat on the motorcoach will be filled!
Thank you for continuing to pray with us — for open hearts, strong connections, and the Spirit’s leading in every conversation.
