The Gospel

Comments Off on The Gospel

I am so very thankful for the Gospel. Without a doubt, it has entirely changed the course of my life. And even more incredible is to know that in faith, I believe the Gospel has changed the course of my eternal life.

Separation

Before I came to know Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior, I was just like every person (who also inherited sin) since the fall of Adam and Eve. A life separated from God for all eternity. I can’t begin to express the enormity of that truth in this life. Or, let’s take it further into the almost incomprehensible eternal life. Forever! Early in my walk with God, the verse below absolutely wrecked me. And even now, when I read it, I almost gasp out loud. Like the sound you might make when you witness someone getting horribly injured.

“They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,” — 2 Thessalonians 1:9

I wouldn’t want that kind of separation for anybody! Are you kidding me? Away from the presence of the Lord for all eternity?! Consider the very worst sicknesses, or the most terrifying thing you have ever witnessed or thought about. I think that would be lovely compared to eternal separation from our Creator God.

Good News

With this in mind, I believe the Gospel is good news for everyone. Anyone who lives apart from God (dead in their sin) can have peace with God through Jesus. We need to repent (turning 180 degrees from our unbelief) and acknowledge that Jesus is Lord. He really did die for our sins. The Lord eradicated our sin problem. He rose from the dead and lives. We can receive His free gift of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteousness, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,” — 1 Peter 3:18

Share The Gospel

The New Testament teaches that Christians ought to hear the Gospel as much as non-Christians. God gives us the privilege of living out the Gospel by telling others about Jesus. He created us to bring Him glory as we do. There are many marvelous ways to share His Gospel truths: Romans Road, 3 Circles, One Verse Evangelism, and The Diagram. Of course, there are many more. Equally important, all of us who know Jesus have our own stories to tell!

A team of 18 people from The Rock is headed to Italy (February 5 – 15) for the 2026 Olympics. Our goal is to meet people from all over the world and tell them about Jesus. We’ve created an app to help with our conversations. Here it is (and feel free to share it).

“And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.” — Mark 13:10
