Our Italy mission trip is officially underway! After two long days of travel, our team has safely arrived in northern Italy, and we’re grateful to share how the journey went.
A Rough Start and God’s Provision
We arrived at the airport early with a solid plan for checking all of our luggage and musical instruments. However, once we reached the counter, we were told that our instruments were too heavy for one leg of our Air France flight and couldn’t be checked as planned. This meant a quick pivot and a lot of problem-solving.
By God’s grace, AJ Petrie was able to contact his dad, who returned to the airport with the original instrument cases. With those in hand, we were able to repack everything, recheck the instruments, and move forward. It was stressful in the moment, but the Lord truly came through. All of our luggage and equipment arrived safely.
Long Travel Days and a Beautiful Journey
Our first flight to Paris lasted about 10 hours, and very little sleep happened. We arrived exhausted and feeling like zombies. After a five-hour layover in Paris—filled with naps, conversations, games, and coffee—we boarded a short flight to Milan. Once again, all luggage arrived safely. Praise God.
Even after landing in Milan, our travel day wasn’t finished. We still had a three-hour bus ride north. While tiring, it turned out to be a beautiful experience. Traveling through northern Italy and seeing the mountains on the horizon reminded many of us of home, especially the mountains near Salt Lake City.
Arrival and What’s Next
We finally arrived at our host home, unloaded all our gear, and then split up to spend time with family and enjoy some incredible Italian pizza. Many on the team had traveled more than 28 hours, so the night ended with much-needed rest.
Tomorrow, we’ll take the morning a little slower with team time, prayer, and devotion. Later, we’ll head into the city of Trento, where we’ll partner with a local church. We’ll be visiting the city, handing out flyers, offering prayer, and hosting a concert together.
Please pray for our musicians and for everything involving media, technology, and equipment—that it would all come together smoothly. Pray that the venue would be full, that we would be a blessing to the local church, and that meaningful conversations would happen throughout the day.
Above all, our desire is to be the fragrance of Christ to everyone we meet—through music, relationships, and everyday interactions. We want to bring the love of Jesus to the people here in Italy.
Thank you for praying for us. We’ll share another update soon.
