Sometimes we think our busy lives, full of suffering and distraction, are the real world. But the reality is that Jesus is advancing His Kingdom, and He’s using the love of His Church to do it.
Every opportunity we have to love “the least of these” is made possible by many people working together to serve others and share the love of Jesus.
Below is a picture of Kai playing street soccer with kids in an impoverished community here in Honduras. He was the entertainer while their parents and siblings received medical treatment at our clinic. One of our translators described the day as “the most beautiful experience of her life.”
Tony and others on our Honduras Mission Team also had the opportunity to personally share the Gospel with at least 200 people who came through the clinics.
We gave Gospel presentations and spent time playing with kids at an elementary school and a university. Each opportunity gave us another chance to love people, build relationships, and point them toward Jesus.
Today, we brought donated soccer gear—and the Gospel—to a group of 75 boys the local church has been reaching out to. One of the older boys received a new pair of soccer cleats. When he held up his old pair, the bottoms were completely worn smooth. We didn’t have enough cleats for everyone, but instead of being disappointed, his friends were genuinely excited for him. They surrounded him with hugs and celebrated with him.
Tomorrow, we get to hold a medical clinic at a group home for people with disabilities. Those of us who aren’t doctors will spend our time planting a garden and simply loving and spending time with the residents.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be here in Honduras and to see these glimpses of the coming Kingdom—where suffering will be gone, brokenness will be made whole, and God’s people will dwell together in His perfect love.
This is the real world. Jesus is building His Kingdom, and what a privilege it is to get a glimpse of it.
