  1. From Fear to Faith

From Fear to Faith, a word by pastor Steve McInroy from The Rock Church in Draper, Utah.

I have met regularly with different groups of people for over 20 years; I’m very thankful for these “iron sharpening iron” types of relationships. I recently met with some friends and it was similar to so many of the gatherings that I’ve participated in over the years — meeting and talking about our faith in Jesus. We always encourage each other with what God is teaching us. He usually provides a theme, idea or even a struggle that is common to the group. His most recent theme was fear.

  2. Process, Power, Plans

I am comforted when I remember that God delights in the one who knows Him and is hoping in His love. Jesus, help me to hope in Your unfailing love.

“No, the Lord’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love.” — Psalm 147:11(NLT)

Process, power, plans, capital, vision, connections…. these are the types of words we tend to associate with success — especially in business, of course if you want to success in business you should also get tools like paystubs for your staff so you can manage everything easily. And no matter what type of business you have, it’s important to accept credit card payments from your customers. With customers increasingly wanting to make cashless payments, getting the cheapest card machine has never been more important. A passion of my heart is The Rock Music. If I’m honest, I often feel like we should be further ahead or more successful than we are. I tend to think we should somehow have more reach for the Gospel with our music ministry than it seems that we do. I can get insecure fairly quickly when I see the success of others around me. Perhaps I don’t have the right process, power or plan?

  3. MAGA Hats and “Never Trumpers”

MAGA Hats and "Never Trumpers”, a word by Pastor Josh Whitney from The Rock Church in Draper Utah.

“[Jesus] appointed the twelve:… Matthew, … and Simon the Zealot.” — Mark 3:16-18

Jesus selected twelve young men to be His closest followers. They were all uneducated, common, “blue collar worker” types. God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. I want to focus on two disciples, Matthew and Simon, to see the incredible unity that can be found in Christ.

  4. He Created

He Created, A Word by Pastor Bill Young of The Rock Church in Draper, Utah.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

I was recently driving with my family and we saw the most vibrant and amazing rainbow we’ve ever seen. Actually, it was a double rainbow, cascading against the mountains with colors so brilliant and majestic that it was literally breathtaking. In awe, we lingered at the stop light, trying to take pictures.

  5. The Golden Calf

The Golden Calf, A Word from Pastor Caleb Yetton of The Rock Church in Utah.

As I read through Exodus this year, I was struck by something new (in an otherwise very familiar story). I’ve heard and read about the events found in Exodus 32 many times in my life. It’s the story of Aaron making an idol of the golden calf for the Israelites to worship; this happened when Moses took too long returning from Mount Sinai. However, the Lord brought a new wrinkle of the story to me when I read it this time.

  6. The Word Good

The Word Good, A Word Blog Post by Pastor Bryan Edwards of The Rock Church in Draper Utah.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever!” — 1 Chronicles 16:34

The word GOOD has become very ordinary and mundane to me lately. I find myself regularly saying things like, “Today is going to be a good day!”, “This coffee is really good.” and even “Goodnight!” without really considering the intent of the word. I am sure you’ve used this word plenty of times today as well.

  7. Let Your Guard Down

A few months ago, I was able to attend a conference sponsored by The Gospel Coalition. Some of our pastors joined other pastors in our region for three days of teachings, seminars, break-off conversations and hours of planning. There were 8,000 people from all over the world there — some of the most well-known theological minds of our day. It was huge. It was overwhelming. It was exhausting.

  8. In His Arms

    I love this verse!

“Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms.” — Psalm 68:19

Praise the Lord, indeed! He carries us in His arms, WOW! When I think of Jesus actually carrying me, it takes me to a place of intimacy and security that is beyond comprehension. It’s hard to grasp that the God of the universe carefully holds us close — like a mother holding her newborn baby. Even more amazing, is that the incredible love a parent has for their newborn child, pales in comparison to the love that God has for us. God not only cradles us as infants, but holds us close into eternity.

  9. Get Battle Ready With the Word of God Today!

“His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”— Psalm 91:4

We all need refuge. We all look to something or someone to lean on or support us. It could be our careers, families, friends, finances or even our status in life.

These are all uncertain supports as every one of them will change over time. As we age and life moves on, our careers will evolve, our finances will rise and fall and even our families won’t remain the same. In one moment, in the blink of an eye, what seemed so certain, can suddenly be very different than what we expected.

  10. Three Ways to Love People Better

“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

I recently observed three different families in our church who were loving others in practical, amazing and helpful ways. I believe there are three lessons we can learn from their examples.

First way to love people better is to make yourself available. You actually need to tell someone —maybe a Small Group Leader, a pastor, or the person you see with a need. Tell them you are willing and available to help! That’s why I love this verse so much. Don’t just have some nice thoughts about how you want to help — actually DO something. I know a family in our church who had a broken car. A different family in our church had told a leader they wanted to help with practical things, like broken cars. Thankfully, as you guessed it, the broken car got fixed!
