  1. What Are You Searching For?

What Are You Searching For?, A Blog post from Pastor Tony D'Amico of The Rock Church in Utah.

Treasure hunts are so much fun! At least I think so. You get a map, look for clues, count your steps between each spot, and then, finally end up on the big X! You’ve found your treasure. Most of us would say we are not searching for a treasure chest filled with gold; but, we are always searching for something. We might be searching for a way to surprise our spouse or kids, a way to get a promotion at work, a way to live a healthier lifestyle, a way to make more money, or maybe for the best, wood-fired pizza? The list is endless.

  2. Where Is Your Hope?

Where is your hope? A Blog Post by Pastor Bill Young of The Rock Church in Draper Utah

“If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.”-1 Corinthians 15:19 (NIV84)

This week, one of my dear friend’s son died suddenly and unexpectantly. He was only 24 years old. It is going to be a really rough week for many dear saints. I feel a bit shaken and found myself trying to get my head around the fact that this young child of God is now… gone. I am praying for God to supernaturally comfort the families involved.

  3. Friend in Jesus

Friend in Jesus, A Blog from Pastor Steve McInroy from The Rock Church in Draper Utah.

While reading in Matthew recently, I was reminded of what an incredible friend we have in Jesus. The verses about how Jesus was betrayed and arrested, stir angry emotions in me. Judas betrays Jesus in an unfathomable way, and then a crowd with clubs and swords descends upon him. Let’s look at the verses:

My Tears in a Bottle, A Blog Post by Pastor Josh Whitney of The Rock Church in Utah.

“You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?” — Psalm 56:8

This verse encouraged me the other morning. Christians, meditate on what this verse is actually saying. It describes the incredible level of personalized, tender care that God has for us.

  6. You Give Them Something

You Give Them Something, A Blog Post by Pastor Bill Young of The Rock Church in Utah.

As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Bring them here to me,” he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. – Matthew 14:15-21 (NIV84)

Beautiful Compassion, A blog post by Pastor Caleb Yetton of The Rock Church in Utah.

“Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet… He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?” Jesus answered him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean.”- John 13:5-10a

  8. Small Groups Spring 2018

Small Groups, Join a Small Group at The Rock Church in Utah.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” – Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)

    Why Join a Small Group?

In a big church, it’s easy to put on a smile, say the right things, and when the last song has finished to bolt out the door. We then return to our normal, everyday lives. But, following Christ is so much more than smiles and small talk. The Gospel has the power to change the world, and that change is accomplished through the lives of individual people, following Christ, one day at a time.

Jesus often spoke on the value of friendships and community. Even as God in the flesh, Christ needed companions. We do as well. That’s where Small Groups come into the picture. A Small Group is, well, just that – usually 8-12 people who are committed to study the Bible together, share each other’s burdens and joys, pray for one another, and generally live life together.

What Do Small Groups Look Like?

For starters, you usually meet in someone’s home. There will more than likely be good food and a generally relaxed atmosphere. You’ll talk about what God is teaching you through His Word, learn from others about what God is doing in their lives, and sometimes you’ll spend some praying with one another. Then, more food.

What Types of Small Groups are Available?

Small Groups focus on different topics throughout the course of the year. But, the heart of Small Groups is always the Bible. There are many different groups – from men’s or women’s, to outdoor activities or crafts, to video studies or different stages of life. Take your pick!

Better Together, A Blog Post by Pastor Bryan D. Edwards of The Rock Church in Salt Lake City Utah

Can I be honest with you about something? I really love our CHURCH! I recently read an on-line comment about our church (from a new Believer) and it encouraged me so much. It read:

“Today as I was looking around (the church) there were people from all walks of life here and it just amazed me! Families of all races, people in dresses, tank tops, Harley jackets. People with tattoos, some just getting off work, and people who had obviously been sleeping all day! This church is so diverse yet we all connect through an amazing God who has brought us all together.”

Burn It, A Word by Pastor Tony D'Amico for the blog of The Rock Church in Utah.

We all once lived a life apart from God. We tried to fill the God-void in our hearts with the things of this world. That looked different for each one of us. We’ve all had our own stuff — baggage, sin, or whatever you want to call. It’s the stuff we have dealt with and may even still deal with today.
