  1. Through the Mud

    As you know, living in Utah provides many opportunities for adventure. So, a few weeks ago, my kids and I went on a little hike up to one of the reservoirs near our house. AllTrails told us the hike covered about a mile and a half round-trip. However, we decided to step it up a notch. We went around the reservoir on a lightly used trail. Looking back, I’m pretty sure it was just a game trail.

    We came to the river, and we pressed on.
    The path got a bit narrower, and we pressed on.
    Then the path started to get muddy, and we pressed on.
    Finally, the path got extremely muddy, but we pressed on.

    Before we knew it, we were using sticks and rocks to keep out of the mud. Cutting up to the real trail or turning around was always an option. We were never in danger, but we wanted to keep going for the adventure of it. Knowing the mud had to end at some point gave us hope.

    When asked what the greatest (or most important) commandment was, Jesus said it was to love God and love your neighbor. 

    “Jesus answered … ‘And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.’” — Mark 12:29a – 31

  3. Looking Forward

    Looking Forward – a word by Pastor Steve McInroy from the Rock Church in Draper, UT. "He wanted people to think about what was coming so they could look forward to something beyond their comprehension."

    A lot of the world is looking forward to celebrating Easter. I know I am, as well. Hiding eggs for my children and grandchildren to find is so enjoyable. It’s fun to hide some of them out of reach or in unusual places, so they have to think about it. Not to mention being stuffed with hundred-dollar bills, who wouldn’t be excited to find them? No, not really stuffed with hundo’s, come on. Perhaps they’re filled with candy or something curious.
