Promises

I’ve been convicted about God’s promises in the Bible. While there is no “official” count of the number of His promises to mankind, the most widely cited figure is 7,487. This comes from a meticulous study by a Canadian schoolteacher, Everett R. Storms. He spent one and a half years tallying them. This happened during his 27th reading of the Bible. Without a doubt, that’s a lot of promises.

The Promise Fulfilled — Christmas Series 2025

“For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.” — 2 Corinthians 1:20

Christmas is approaching, and it brings our four-week series called “The Promise Fulfilled.” We’ll discover how the promises of God find their ultimate fulfillment in the birth of Christ: beginning with ancient prophecies of hope, continuing to the angel’s songs of joy, celebrating the Prince of Peace born in Bethlehem, and embracing God’s gift of love revealed in Jesus.

Noel Christmas Series

The word “Noel” has several meanings. Most notably, it communicates the news of God’s goodness and love expressed through the birth of His son, Jesus Christ.

Fishing Hole – Kid-Friendly Park Activities

What an incredible way to end the week! The park was full of people from the neighborhood grilling food, playing games, and running around the playground. At least 100 kids were all over the park. Many of the kids and families were familiar faces from the work that had been done in preparation for this moment. The Lord provided a well stocked fishing hole for our team.

On Friday afternoon, while the men were shopping for home repair supplies, we came across a hobby shop or craft store. I wanted to purchase water-based paint to replenish what our kids had used throughout the week. While we were at the store, I felt the Holy Spirit prompt me to bless Sarah with supplies to help start the youth ministry that she has been praying for. So, I sent John and Sawyer around the store to help find crafts that pre-teen girls would enjoy. We found kinetic sand, playdough, window markers, and paint bottles.

He Delights in You

As I write this, I am waiting to surprise my kids. They don’t know it yet, but we have decided to cancel school today and take them to Lagoon. We can’t wait to see the look on their faces when we say, “Instead of school, we thought it would be fun to go on roller coasters.” The entire week (for my wife and me) has largely revolved around this fun surprise.

There is no special reason for “Lagoon day”. The only reward is to hear their voices laugh with excitement, see their smiling faces and delight their hearts.

Anchor — A Lesson for The Rock Kids

Hello, parents! I’m happy to be back with another special Bible lesson for your kiddos. We’re going to talk about one of my favorite things in the world — boating. More specifically, we’ll talk about the importance of having a good anchor while on a boat and also in life.

When we experience a storm in life, God is the hope and anchor for our souls. Hebrews 6:19 says, “This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.”

A Message for the Parents of The Rock Church

Dear Rock Parents,

As you can imagine, we are very excited to be meeting together again starting THIS weekend — June 20 & 21!

We believe the gathering of God’s people is so vital and beneficial for us as Believers. However, due to the regulations regarding COVID-19 (and the precautions we’re taking for your safety), there will be no Kid’s Rock classes offered at this time.

Moms, See This Time as a Gift

A Word of Encouragement for Moms from Krista Whitney

Hi, moms! I wanted to share with you some of the things God has been teaching and encouraging me in during this time.

I know all of our lives have been upended over the last couple of weeks. Some of us have more kids at home during the day than we used to, some of us find ourselves trying to work from home with kids all around us and some now have husbands working from home with children running around. There are many different scenarios we’re all managing with our children day to day.
