  1. Whose Fish Are These?

Whose Fish Are There? — a word by Pastor Bill Young from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "you and I are in a season of “gathering.” We indeed have a godly calling to get the fish/people that Jesus is bringing us into the “boat.”"

“He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’” — Matthew 9:35-38

Our church has undeniably been blessed with LOTS of new people. Attendance is at an all-time high. New people are just about everywhere! In fact, over the past six years, we are averaging 856 new people/year, 71 new people/month, and 16 new people/weekend. Assuming half of the new attendees don’t even turn in programs, you can perhaps double that number.

  2. Soccer Cleats

Soccer Cleats – a word by Pastor Josh Whitney from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "some supply the “cleats” and others supply “the goals.” As a result, God uses our combined talents to do mighty things."

“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith…” — Romans 12:4-6

These verses explain how the Church is made of different parts (people); they fulfill unique functions, like a human body. We do not have the same roles, but collectively, God uses us to do incredible things. I recently witnessed a powerful example of this.

  3. Small World, Huge Kingdom

Small World, Huge Kingdom – a word by Pastor Billy Johnson from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Until we get there, however, know that God’s Kingdom on this earth is very much alive and working to accomplish His will."

My family and I recently visited a church in Ohio while on vacation. As I bought some books from the church book store, the woman behind the counter asked where I was from. When I told her Utah, she introduced us to her co-worker, Sarah. She and her family had recently moved there from Utah. We chatted briefly and discovered that we had a few mutual friends.

I met Sarah’s husband that evening at their communion service. It didn’t take long to learn that Jonathan was good friends with two of my Christian co-workers and one of my Christian clients. It also turned out that he was very close with one of my friends who pastors a church in Hawaii!

  4. Guard Your Heart

Guard Your Heart – a word by Pastor Steele Croswhite from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Each day we have a decision to make. To whom or to what will we give our heart? Will we give it to things that have no lasting value?"

Simply put (good or bad), there are many things fighting for first place in our hearts. Our jobs, family, friends, bills, hobbies, “to-do lists”, debts, recreation, wealth, pets, church (and even our houses) — all of these want a little piece of our hearts, don’t they? Here is what the Bible says in Proverbs 4:23, “Guard your hearts above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” In Matthew 6:34 it says, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will be also.”

    by Austin Fredrickson

How many of you can testify that this life can be totally crazy? For a lot of us, there is a ton going on! Between work, school, marriage, kids, grandkids, church, ministry opportunities, friends, family, health issues, home improvements, etc… our time and attention can be spread really thin.
