There is a word which conveys wonderful hope and comfort to the Christian, but is often misunderstood by the world. That word is grace. The Apostle Paul used this magnificent word in every epistle that he wrote. He often began and ended his letters with the mention of this word.

To live as a disciple of Jesus Christ means to love Jesus, and to love people like He does.
But what does Jesus’ love look like in a Facebook culture that lists 40+ different choices for gender?
How do we share about the love of the Father in a generation in which 50+% of American children grow up in broken homes, 40% are born out of wedlock, and it’s estimated that more than 685,000 experience abuse each year?

“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NASB
What a beautiful promise from our Father!

As you know, we are a little more than half way through our three-year ROOTS 2.0 Capital Campaign and our new facility in Draper is nearing completion! This is a very exciting time for all of us and we are so thankful for each one of you, who have so generously given to get us this far. The brick, steel, and mortar are in place — but we still need to purchase all of the inside furnishings that will truly make this church house a church home. We are looking at the Bradingon Young Furniture for the offices but are still unsure so we have an idea.

John 7:38 “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”
My son, Wesley, has recently fallen in love with the movie Toy Story. We got him the replica Woody doll that now goes with him (and us) wherever we go. Woody has a place at the dinner table, in the car, and even has his own blanket and pillow! Wesley introduces Woody to everyone who crosses his path. As a family, we just got home from Disneyland, and Wesley got the chance to meet Woody in person! Just a few nights ago (it was the sweetest thing to see) as he was fast asleep, Wesley cracked the biggest smile as he was remembering the day they met. Wesley’s love for Woody overflows into every aspect of his life.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1:17
A few weeks ago my youngest daughter’s life changed forever and my family experienced something very exciting! On September 4, at 12:52 p.m., she was warm, safe and comfortable in the womb, completely content with the only way of life she had ever known. At 12:53 p.m., she was cold, uncomfortable and feeling very unsafe. It was bright and loud and all of her senses were peaked. Every single thing she was experiencing was brand new. She didn’t welcome this change; in fact, she was so upset about it that all of the nurses and doctors were commenting on how loud her screaming was!

The summer between my freshman and sophomore year in college, I bought a small, 16 foot sailboat that only held about four people. My favorite place to sail was on Lake Michigan; the lake was so huge you couldn’t see any side other than the one you left from. It felt like you were alone at sea with unlimited routes to take.
