The Interest of Others

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4

Our world doesn’t understand this. We like to believe that we intrinsically look out for others. However, more often than not, we look to our own interests only. God calls believers to stand out from the world and its selfishness. The church should certainly look different in this area.

Sharing Love in Hard Places: A Mission to the Landfill Community

Before our visit, I tried to imagine what life is like for the Roma families living in the landfill. A place surrounded by trash. A place where hunger and struggle are daily realities. My heart ached knowing we were about to witness conditions so different from our own.

To prepare, we made over 100 sandwiches and assembled essential kits for the children. Our mission was to share the love of Christ. We led a Vacation Bible School centered on Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

A Marathon Day of Fun in Vrsar

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” — Acts 20:35

Today was our marathon day, of sorts, with thirty-six children, nine adults, and eleven hours of childcare. This allowed the parents an entire free day to rest and /or adventure around Istria.

Forgiven By A Friend

“The servant girl at the door said to Peter, ‘You also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?’ He said, ‘I am not.’” — John 18:17

Imagine how disappointed in himself Peter must have been the second those words left his lips.

A Heart of Thanks

“He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me….” — Psalm 50:23 (NIV84)

I really love serving God. I absolutely mean it. My heart longs to do more for Him. I love serving His people and playing music for Him. I love knowing Him more and more. Each day, I seek to bring honor to God by serving Him. 

That being said, this verse in Psalm 50 has recently really impacted me. Prior to verse 23, God reminds His people that though they “sacrifice” to Him, what really brings Him honor is giving thanks to Him.

The Empty Tomb

Easter Services at The Rock Church 

Looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. — Mark‬ ‭16:4-6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

No one rises from the dead. Once you’re dead and buried, that’s it. And yet, Christians make a remarkable claim. They actually believe that Someone did rise from the dead. Join us this Easter as we take a look at the evidence for the Empty Tomb.

New Draper Service on Saturday Nights

We are VERY excited to announce the third service at our Draper location!

Saturday Nights at 6:00 p.m.

Our Kickoff Service will be October 1, 2016! We’ll be ready to welcome you with all of our church ministries and, of course, our excellent (and fun) Creator’s Kids classes.

This Saturday Night Service is a great opportunity for you to take advantage of. Invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers (who might not want to come to church on a Sunday morning)!
