“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” — Acts 3:19-20 (NIV)
Peter had just performed a miracle—healing a man who couldn’t walk. The crowd was obviously amazed. But Peter didn’t take the credit. Instead, he pointed people to Jesus. Additionally, he told them to repent and turn to God.
If you’ve already turned to Jesus, you might wonder about this. “Why does this verse still matter to me?” Because repentance isn’t just for the beginning of our faith journey. On the contrary, it’s a rhythm for the whole walk.
Even now, as a Believer, when you recognize your sin and bring it honestly before Jesus, something powerful happens: refreshment.
The enemy will always try everything to keep you silent. He’ll whisper lies like:
- “You failed again.”
- “God is disappointed in you.”
- “If your friends knew, they’d walk away.”
But those are certainly not the words of your Father. That’s the voice of shame—never of grace.
Remember the Truth
Here’s the truth. When you bring your sin into the light, times of refreshing always come.
- Not rejection
- Not condemnation
- Refreshment
God’s heart isn’t to shame you. Above all, He wants to restore you.
So today, don’t run from God when you mess up. Run to Him. Confess. Be honest. And then experience the grace that brings new strength and fresh hope.
Here’s a prayer for you to pray: “Jesus, thank You for always welcoming me with open arms. Help me not hide in shame but come to You honestly, knowing You are above all ready to forgive and refresh. Thank You that Your grace never runs dry. Amen.”
Refreshed with you,
