  1. Update Regarding The Rock’s Mask Policy

The Rock Pastors spent four hours (of heartfelt discussion) regarding our response and responsibility to the Salt Lake County Health Department’s 30-day public health order (order #2022-01) regarding COVID-19 mask mandates.

This is a challenging issue, to say the least. But, this is what the pastors have decided will apply to our Rock Church services:

  2. Build Your House Series

"Build Your House" A new series at The Rock Church in Draper, Utah. This new, practical series will help you dig deep to build your house with Jesus as the firm foundation.

A new, practical series at The Rock Church

“Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock.” — Luke 6:47-48a

If we hear the words of Jesus and obey them, we’re like a wise man who builds his house on the Rock. When the storms of life come (and they will), we’re able to withstand them.

Our houses are certainly different and unique (walks with Jesus, relationships, marriages, parenting and finances). But all of them need to be built on the words of Jesus.

“And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.” — Luke 6:48b

This new, practical series will help you dig deep to build your house with Jesus as the firm foundation.

Build Your House runs from October 9 – November 21.

Build Your House Service Times and Location:

  3. Waiting

Waiting – a word by Pastor Steve McInroy from The Rock Church in Draper UT. "Waiting for the Lord must be awfully important. I say this because it seems like almost everything in life is enveloped in waiting for Him."

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” — Psalm 27:14

Waiting for the Lord must be awfully important. I say this because it seems like almost everything in life is enveloped in waiting for Him. Everyone waits. We wait not only for birth and death, but even on a daily basis, we wait. Think about it. Today you waited; tomorrow you will wait again. In other words, all of life’s ups and downs, all encouragements (and discouragements) happen, as we wait for the Lord.

  4. True Identity

True Identity – a word by Pastor Bill Young from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "We are filled with joy, peace, and granted true meaning in life. Let the truth of your TRUE identity affect what you do today."

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

I recently gave a message called “Living for God”. As I prepared for it, I was reminded again of how critically important a proper understanding of our identity in Christ is. (Pastor Bryan recently wrote about our identity, also. Seems like God has something He wants us to be thinking about.)

  5. Let the Word of God Lead You

Dear Church, Together with you, we continue to be troubled by the events in our world regarding race and racism. Naturally, there are multiple voices we turn to in these times of uncertainty. For example, many of us turn to our favorite author or speakers. Some of us look to our news outlets, social media feeds or friends/family for direction. Though many of these are fine resources, as your pastors, we would encourage you (above all other resources), to let the Word of God lead you.

Even in our restlessness, our fears and our questions, God’s Word remains the same. Truly, the Word of God is alive and powerful!

  6. Our Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

    Hello Rock Church,

We have been closely following the news related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the last few weeks. Like many of you, we are thinking and praying about how to best prepare and protect our families and church. Some of you have asked what The Rock Church is doing (specifically) to prepare?

So i thought about this and how exposed are the older adults to this pandemic virus and the special cares they might because they are in high risk of getting infected.

As your pastors, foremost, we have been praying for God’s protection and guidance (Philippians 4:6-7).  We must remember that the Lord is in charge of these events and they don’t change His love and care for us. With that said, He also directs us to prepare in the face of danger (Nehemiah 4:9).

  7. “Here’s My Heart It’s Yours To Keep”

Recently, The Rock Music released a music video for one of our songs — “Here’s My Heart”. The message behind the song is quite simple, but truly life changing. When you get a moment, check it out.

Within the song, there is the prayer that God would take our hearts in their entirety. It may seem simple enough, but we all know how hard it can be to both offer (and allow) God to completely take our hearts. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, the world around us fights for our affections. Perhaps it’s our job, our money, or glory? Maybe even “good” things, like our family or church can wrestle for our attention and worship?
