The Law Leads to Loss

The Judaizers in Galatia wanted Christians to turn from God’s grace and trust in man-made rules and regulations. This was Paul’s fight! Those Legalists cried, “The Doctrine of Grace is dangerous! It replaces Law with license!” We have the same problem today: Some like to teach that you can’t depend solely on God’s grace. The Legalist says, “It’s not just grace! There must be more!” They misunderstand Paul’s teaching on Grace. And that is exactly why Paul wrote Galatians — to correct that misunderstanding. In this section of verses, Paul turns from argument to application, from doctrinal to practical. He shows us that Grace is not dangerous, but Legalism is! Paul encourages the Galatians to fight Legalism and warns us that there are at least three things we are in danger of losing when we abandon Grace for the law.

From Series: "The Book of Galatians: Draper"

The Book of Galatians is one of the Apostle Paul’s most impassioned and eloquent letters. It warns Christians about the dangers of both legalism and lawlessness, calling Believers to live in the freedom of a gospel-shaped life. Throughout this book we will encounter the promises, warnings, and gospel declarations that will help us find true liberty in our identity as God’s adopted children. Join us at The Rock Church for a ten-part series at all of our locations. We'll discover the freedom found in the statement, "salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone”.
