Gideon

One of my favorite Old Testament characters is Gideon. Gideon is infamous for his fear and weakness but ultimately, his faith. At times, we may all feel like Gideon — fearful, lacking courage, or not gifted or talented. Maybe you're afraid much of the time or feel just like an ordinary person? Maybe you feel less than ordinary and like you will never be able to be used in a significant way for the Lord? If this resonates with you, then this message should encourage your heart. No matter what your weakness, fears, or failures, God is faithful and wants to use you in extraordinary ways! Why? Because God is faithful!

From Series: "Jesus is Better Draper"

The stories of the Old Testament can sometimes be unfamiliar to us as Christians. It says in Romans 15:4, "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." But, like this verse in Romans states, they were written to instruct us. Join us as we spend 12 weeks studying through a variety of Old Testament characters. Studying their lives in greater detail will both instruct and challenge us. But, it doesn't stop there. These Old Testament characters don't simply instruct and encourage us. They also point (like a big, old laser beam) to Jesus. Jesus is the ultimate example of what it means to live a life of faith. All of these heroes of the Old Testament are ultimately a version of or a picture of Jesus. Join us as Jesus is Better!
