Jacob

Jacob is one of the key figures in the entire Bible. He was the son of Isaac, and the grandson of Abraham. In this lesson we will see that although Jacob had many shortcomings and was known as a deceiver, God blessed him anyway. In chapters 32 and 33 of Genesis we are told how God finally humbled Jacob and literally wrestled him into a position of helplessness and desperation. Of course, this is just where God wanted him! Throughout this bizarre narrative, we will learn four lessons which prove that Jesus is indeed better than Jacob!

From Series: "Jesus is Better Draper"

The stories of the Old Testament can sometimes be unfamiliar to us as Christians. It says in Romans 15:4, "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." But, like this verse in Romans states, they were written to instruct us. Join us as we spend 12 weeks studying through a variety of Old Testament characters. Studying their lives in greater detail will both instruct and challenge us. But, it doesn't stop there. These Old Testament characters don't simply instruct and encourage us. They also point (like a big, old laser beam) to Jesus. Jesus is the ultimate example of what it means to live a life of faith. All of these heroes of the Old Testament are ultimately a version of or a picture of Jesus. Join us as Jesus is Better!
