Divine Power (2 Peter 1:1-11)

In the Book of Second Peter, the Apostle Peter is going to teach about the dangers of false teachers. But, first, he presents some of the incredible spiritual riches we have as Christians (found in verses one through four). Then he talks about our response to these riches (found in verses five through eleven). Specifically, God has given us His divine power for life and godliness. This is a truth that all Christians need to meditate on.

Peter is one of the most beloved characters in the Bible. Many people can relate to his reckless, passionate, rash, wild and fearless qualities. As we begin this study through Peter’ s first letter to the churches, we will discover that he has a unique ability to encourage believers in faith, obedience and patience. His experiences, and close relationship with Jesus, allow him to direct us in God’s way while offering comfort in suffering, and joy as we hope in Christ.
