The Core: Doctrine, Character and Skill

The Core

Doctrine — The Revolutionary Local Church by Pastor Steele Croswhite (starts at 0:00) The revolutionary local church is the vehicle for revolutionary discipleship (in love and kindness). Let’s find out why. Discussion Question: “How can you grow in your love for the local church?”

Character — Sacrificed Life by Pastor Caleb Yetton (starts at 15:42) The life of a true disciple of Christ is marked by sacrifice before God. A sacrificed life is a lifestyle consistent with an eternal perspective and higher calling that you have received. This life of sacrifice stems from a love for God and a heart that is fully given to the Lord and His work. Discussion Question: What is holding you back from sacrificing more of yourself for Jesus?

Skill — Prayer by Pastor Billy Johnson (starts at 31:40) Prayer is a necessary (but often overlooked) discipline of the Christian life. For the Christian who wants to make progress in their spiritual walk, consistent times of prayer need to be a regular part of life. Discussion Question: How do you practice Paul’s admonition in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to “Pray without ceasing”?

From Series: "The Core"

At The Rock Church, part of our Mission Statement is to Build the Believer. We want to find long-lasting ways to do that and believe our newly developed Core Meeting is just that! These times are a monthly, co-ed discipleship meeting with worship, teaching, empowering, envisioning and fellowship — all with the leaders and aspiring leaders of our church.
