Don't Be Alone, A Word by Pastor Bill Young of The Rock Christian Church Utah

“Then they took what Micah had made, and his priest, and went on to Laish, against a people at peace and secure. They attacked them with the sword and burned down their city. There was no one to rescue them because they lived a long way from Sidon and had no relationship with anyone else.” — Judges 18:27-28

It’s dangerous to be alone.

Since the first day I moved to Utah, I have sought relationships with other like-minded believers. I have personally been in weekly accountability with other dear pastor friends for over 19 years. As a church, we often unite and support other churches and organizations who labor with us here in the Salt Lake Valley. We strive to bless, and not compete with, our hard-working brothers and sisters. We serve other Gospel-centered ministries (in our community) who are attempting to reach the lost for Jesus.

Sadly, I have a list of close to a one hundred pastors and leaders who have left Utah in the past 19 years. Many leave for good reasons; but quite often, many unsuspecting, self-sufficient (men and women) are taken out by the enemy. Because of their isolation, Satan is able to attack and destroy their families or ministries. I’ve seen it happen way too often. I have come to believe that a key reason so many dear Christians are defeated is because they “had no relationship with anyone else.”

At The Rock Church, we are fortunate to have hundreds of fellow believers who worship together with us in one location. We have opportunities to form bonds of meaningful relationships and be united in spirit and purpose with other beloved believers. We would be wise to make every effort to build those relationships and resist the temptation to isolate ourselves or make choices that keep us out of fellowship.

We need each other. We can protect one another. There is no doubt that satan will seek to destroy the isolated Christian, leader, family, pastor, or ministry.

It’s dangerous to be alone. Who do you have a relationship with?

United,

Bill
