“His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”— Psalm 91:4

We all need refuge. We all look to something or someone to lean on or support us. It could be our careers, families, friends, finances or even our status in life.

These are all uncertain supports as every one of them will change over time. As we age and life moves on, our careers will evolve, our finances will rise and fall and even our families won’t remain the same. In one moment, in the blink of an eye, what seemed so certain, can suddenly be very different than what we expected.

Just this last week, I mentioned to my sweet wife, “I think we finally have our savings in a good place.” The next day, our furnace went out :-).

The Lord’s promises, however, stand firm forever! They will nevercome back empty, neverleave us alone and neverchange. His promises are faithful, protective and our certain refuge. They are our “armor and protection.” They are our stronghold in both good days and bad.

Do you know the Lord’s promises? Have you armed yourself with them?

Here are just a few of them:

  • “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail youIwill never abandon you.” — Hebrews 13:5
  • This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9
  • “But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 15:57
  • “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”— Jeremiah 29:11
  • For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.” — Psalm 149:4

Today, cling to the promises of the Lord. Hold these up as your armor and protection. Write them down and place them in a prominent place where you know you will see them (like on your phone or bathroom mirror)!

Arming myself along with you,

Steele
