Show Me the Right Path – a word by Pastor Tony D'Amico from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Pray continually — that includes all the decisions you make throughout the day. He will show you the right path to take."

Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.Psalm 25:4-5

Every day, we have to make decisions. Sometimes, they are difficult, consuming a lot of our time, thoughts and energy. Other times, they are easy and we are able to quickly move along to the next thing. We can also have decisions (we hoped would never come) placed in front of us.

As I think about making decisions, these verses are a great comfort to me. I am someone who strives to make the perfect decision in everything I do. It becomes crippling at times. I research, I think, I research some more, I think some more. As a result, there are times that nothing gets done. But, the more I learn to trust in the Lord (praying and giving it over to Him), the more peace I have that He will guide me down the right path in my decision making.

Getting Practical

I knew some missionaries in Italy, who would pray for a needed parking spot. Initially, I thought it odd. But, then it struck me. Why would I only pray for guidance in big or hard decisions, and not in the little ones? The more we make it a habit to ask the Lord to show us the right path, the more He faithfully guides us.

These verses in Psalms are an excellent reminder to continually place your hope in the Lord — all day long and in everything you do. Pray continually — that includes all the decisions you make throughout the day. He will show you the right path to take.

Praying Continually,

Tony
