Guard Your Heart

Guard Your Heart – a word by Pastor Steele Croswhite from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Each day we have a decision to make. To whom or to what will we give our heart? Will we give it to things that have no lasting value?"

Simply put (good or bad), there are many things fighting for first place in our hearts. Our jobs, family, friends, bills, hobbies, “to-do lists”, debts, recreation, wealth, pets, church (and even our houses) — all of these want a little piece of our hearts, don’t they? Here is what the Bible says in Proverbs 4:23, “Guard your hearts above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” In Matthew 6:34 it says, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will be also.”

Where is Our Heart?

Each day we have a decision to make. To whom or to what will we give our heart? Will we give it to things that have no lasting value? Will we give our hearts over to worry or falsehoods? The Bible says in Revelation 3:20 that Jesus stands at our door and knocks so that He might share with us as “friends”. In Matthew 6:29-33 Jesus says, “Not to be concerned about what to eat or what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your father already knows your needs. Seek the kingdom of God ABOVE ALL ELSE, and He will give you everything you need.”

The Bible certainly tells us that our treasure is where our heart is. It also tells us that our “heart determines the course of our life”. Today, I challenge each of us to place our heart in the hands of our Holy, wonderful, loving King. He won’t let you down, he “already knows what you need.”

Seeking Jesus with you,

Steele
