Listen to Him – a word from Pastor Steele Croswhite from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "God gives us in the book of Proverbs. Those who listen to Jesus (His wisdom and the Holy Spirit) live in PEACE without FEAR!"

“But all who listen to me will live in peace untroubled by fear of harm.” — Proverbs 1:33

There is a way to live that leads to harm, fear and restlessness, isn’t there? Most of the time, it’s the result of us listening to ourselves, to lies, or to negative influences. We need to ask ourselves, “Who am I listening to?” when we get a pit in our stomachs and a tinge of fear rattling our emotions.

The GREAT news, however, is what the Word of God gives us in the book of Proverbs. Those who listen to Jesus (His wisdom and the Holy Spirit) live in PEACE without FEAR!

Certainly, listening to God means allowing the Truth of His Word to permeate our lives. His Truth leads to obedience. Perhaps, you are “hearing” His Word, but you’re not actually “listening”?

Who are you listening to?

I have three wonderful, little people at home. I repeat phrases to them all the time. We have so many sayings that are very familiar to them: “Do the next right thing.” or “Help each other win.” or “Some may, we may not.”

Oftentimes, they’ll reply, “We know, Dad, you tell us all the time.” To which I answer, “I will tell you until you obey.”

Christian, are you fearful and restless? Are you afraid that harm might come to your marriage, friendships or career? Ask yourself, “Who am I listening to?”

Are you listening to the Word of God? Have the words of Jesus gone beyond just “hearing” them and moved you to obey?

Undoubtedly, this takes faith, time and prayer. We always need God’s help to do this. Have you asked Him for help? If you are afraid, restless, or not at peace, perhaps pray something like this:

“Lord Jesus, I am fearful and anxious. I know it’s possible I’m listening to the wrong voices in my life. I need your help to listen to YOU right now. Work in my heart and help me to listen to your Word and obey. Turn my fear into courage and my restlessness into faith. Give me the peace that surpasses understanding. Fill me with the Holy Spirit’s wisdom. In your name, Jesus Christ, Amen.”

Listening for Him,

Steele
