Can A Christian Lose Their Salvation?

I was very stressed before my last teaching. And I’m sure I know why. I was preparing a message from some challenging verses in Hebrews 10:26-39. Not surprisingly, we all know there are some Bible verses that (at first glance) can rattle our faith. Because of this, they may even challenge our understanding of salvation. I was meditating on verses like that.

However, the Lord gave me clarity. Once again, I came to the settled peace that our salvation through Jesus is eternally secure. Even as I considered other options, it was obvious that the atonement of Jesus covers ALL my sins. For that, I am beyond grateful!

Additionally, I’m confident that God’s desire is for all Christians to be 100% confident in their salvation! It says in 1 John 5:13, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” The question isn’t, “Can I lose my salvation?” The question really becomes, “Am I truly saved?” Once the salvation question is answered, the assurance question becomes clear.

Being certain of your salvation is a key to understanding the true character of God. It equips you to become the man or woman God wants you to be. I believe the Scriptures are clear.

Three Lessons for Us:

1. As Believers, we should REST in our salvation. Our salvation is secure. It says in John 10:28, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.” These verses were written for you and me.

2. As Believers, we should REJOICE in our redemption. Thank God for the New Covenant in Christ’s blood. Thank Jesus for dying for all our sins.

3. He will REWARD Believers for their service. Rewards motivate us. God designed us that way. Without a doubt, we should look forward to that day.

Christian, do you know for certain that you are a born-again-of-the-Spirit, Believer in Jesus? Is the blood of Jesus covering your sins? If so, God wants you to rest in the peace of knowing your salvation is eternally secure.

Resting,

Bill
