Jesus is a Promise Keeper

Jesus is a Promise Keeper – a word by Pastor Caleb Yetton from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "We can look throughout the Bible and see how God fulfilled His promises and covenants through Jesus. Undeniably, Jesus is a Promise Keeper!"

The Bible is amazing. It’s all one story that points to the New Covenant ushered in by Jesus Christ. From its first pages (with the brokenness and mess of human sin) God had His eyes on His ultimate promise to His people — Jesus. We can look throughout the Bible and see how God fulfilled His promises and covenants through Jesus. Undeniably, Jesus is a Promise Keeper!

Here are some of God’s promises to consider:

  • He made a promise to Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:15) — when sin and death entered the world. He spoke of Jesus when He said the woman’s offspring would crush the serpent’s head. Yes, Jesus’ heel would be bruised by the Crucifixion. But, Jesus would defeat death and crush the serpent.
  • He promised Noah (Genesis 7:21) He would never again wipe out all life with a flood. His promise made a way for mankind to turn from their sin. They will also escape the final judgment when Christ returns.
  • He promised Abraham He would bless the whole earth through his offspring. He referred to Jesus (Genesis: 12:1-3) as the New Covenant who would bring the ultimate blessing to the world.
  • To David, he promised he would make his throne last forever (2 Samuel 7:8-16). He spoke about Jesus (as the descendant of David). He is now King forevermore.
  • Through Jeremiah, he promised the New Covenant with His Beloved (Jeremiah 31:31-34). He would remember our sins no more and His ways would be directly written on our hearts. What is more, that New Covenant promise was prophesied more than 600 years before Jesus walked the earth. It was made to Israel before they were exiled in Babylon. Through it all, God was faithful to His word.

Hear me today! Jesus is a Promise Keeper. Even if it takes thousands of years. He will absolutely see it through

Grace and peace,

Caleb
