Let It Go and Simply Sow

Let It Go and Simply Sow – a word by Pastor Tony D'Amico from the Rock Church in Draper, UT. "don’t hold on to the seeds God has given you. Don’t clench your fist in fear. Sow the Gospel and trust God with the rest."

This past week was Mission To The City. We set out (as a church family) to serve our city with the love of Christ. That motivation is at the forefront of everything we do! The Parable of the Sower (Mark 4) guides our outreach.

We’re to spread His Word, sow Gospel seeds, and let God do the rest. It’s refreshing to know that all I’m supposed to do is plant some seeds (even as small as a mustard seed) in someone’s life. I can do that by sharing the Gospel, passing out a flyer, inviting someone to church, or doing a kind act in the Lord’s name.

Don’t Hold On

Nevertheless, we often hold on to these seeds, these Gospel opportunities. We wait for perfect weather or the ideal time to plant. While holding on, we miss the chance to go and sow.

Suppose you could track how many times you had the chance to plant a seed. Are you taking advantage of those times? Or, are you waiting for the perfect situation and then missing out on speaking to a neighbor, co-worker, or family member?

Jesus said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens.” (Mark 4:26-27)

Did you catch that? For the most part, we don’t have very much to do. We sow the seeds. What happens after that is up to God.

With this in mind, please don’t hold on to the seeds God has given you. Don’t clench your fist in fear. Sow the Gospel and trust God with the rest.

Tony
