“Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!” — Psalm 16:5-6
Have you ever wondered where your life might be apart from knowing Jesus as your Savior? If not, spend a moment pondering what that might have looked like.
It certainly doesn’t take long to realize how richly blessed we are to be His children. It always goes far beyond the material blessing of His provision. We no doubt find that in our homes or aligning with our interests. Looking deeper, however, we also see a life filled with grace, forgiveness, purpose, hope, and beauty.
Let’s forever turn to Jesus in worship. Turn when you see mountains covered in snow (like powdered sugar) or canyons baking in the sun’s warmth. Praise Him when you hear children laughing in delightful play. We can do this!
When we sometimes wonder about our significance, we must love others in light of the Great Commission. And above all, we cannot forget that Jesus died on the cross out of love for you and me. That’s significant. We’re significant.
Look to Him
When we wander amidst our sin and depravity, we should look to His pathway of forgiveness. Let’s turn to His power instead of our flesh and the devil.
And when we grieve the loss of a loved one, let’s turn our eyes to the One who holds paradise in His hands. He specifically prepared it before the foundation of the world — for us.
Furthermore, when considering important life decisions, turn to the Source of all wisdom.
Equally important, when we face inevitable health trials and tribulations, see Him. He died for our weakness. Never forget He also powerfully rose in the Resurrection.
He is there in our weeping, mourning, laughing, smiling, and celebrating. Within the glory of the mundane and in the awe of the eternal, He is there. His boundaries have surely fallen in pleasant places. At the same time, He guards all that is yours. Your inheritance is the Lord Himself.
How Great Thou Art, indeed.
