A Marathon Day of Fun in Vrsar

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” — Acts 20:35

Today was our marathon day, of sorts, with thirty-six children, nine adults, and eleven hours of childcare. This allowed the parents an entire free day to rest and /or adventure around Istria.

In the morning, the younger kids enjoyed some pool time, while the tweens and teens had a devotional. Following smaller discussion groups, we also had an encouraging time of praying for each other. After lunch, the littles had some rest time, while everyone else adventured to another part of the peninsula. Here we spent the day swimming (in freezing water), playing football, frisbee, and kick-the-can.

We ended the afternoon trekking back to the resort for gelato, another plunge into the sea, and a rock “beauty contest” (collecting rocks on the beach).

Dinner followed, with our outnumbered team chaotically ensuring that the kiddos got fed.

The evening resulted in more games – including more kick-the-can. Praise the Lord for no major injuries during this marathon day!

Missionaries don’t have large communities of trusted people to watch their children like we are used to in the States. For some, allowing them to have an entire day alone as a couple is a gift.

What an honor and a blessing to be a small part of refreshing these Saints and, in faith, giving them fuel to continue on in the work of the gospel in Europe and beyond.

Thank you for praying for us!
