Reflections From Europe

Reflections From Europe — a word from Pastor Caleb Yetton from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "I returned from a 10-day trip to Croatia. While we called it a mission trip, in most ways, it was more of a serving trip."

Recently, my family and I returned from a 10-day trip to Croatia. While we called it a mission trip, in most ways, it was more of a serving trip. My family (and our team of 18) provided childcare for European missionaries so they could fully engage in a conference taught by Pastor Bill. They also got some much-needed relaxation. We watched over a lot of kiddos, swam, and played night games. Not to mention, we also got to eat good food and gelato. Consequently, I’d like to share a few reflections from the trip.

First of all, thank you for praying and supporting our team. Every time I have gone on a short-term trip with The Rock Missions, I have been reminded of what a blessing the local church is. From prayers, encouraging messages, and even financial support, I am always humbled to be in such a life-giving church body. Thank you, TRC family.

Secondly, this trip demonstrated the genuine truth of Proverbs 11:25b, “Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” I specifically claimed this verse/promise for this trip, and boy, did it prove true.

Experiencing Truth in Action

Our desire was mainly to serve and refresh the missionaries and their children serving in Europe. However, in turn, we were tremendously blessed to interact with them. They’ve given up their lives to be on mission. Being with them (some of whom I’ve known for over a decade) was so refreshing. Hearing their excitement for their ministry work was both inspiring and convicting. I, too, want to be passionate about where God has me, just like them. God’s Word always proves true, and we undoubtedly experienced it in real time.

Thirdly, how beautiful it was to work together with brothers and sisters to serve the Lord. Each time I return from a mission trip, I feel tired and grateful for the trip. I’m also a little bummed that I won’t be able to spend all day (every day) with the team I traveled with. There is nothing quite like being on missional living with other Believers. I indeed have an even deeper, lifelong bond and friendship with this team.

All things considered, I encourage you to consider joining one of the short-term mission trips this next year. Perhaps your family should come along with you? My life, and now my family’s lives, have been eternally impacted by ours. What an incredible opportunity to step out in faith and trust the Lord. If you have any questions, reach out to Pastor Mac. Without a doubt, you won’t regret it.

Grace and peace,

Caleb
