Confidence

I regularly need to bolster my confidence in the Lord; the Bible is always my resource. Lately, the truths found in Hebrews (Chapter 11) have been incredibly helpful to me. Often referred to as the “Hall of Faith”, the author brings us to a place of remembering the past, in order to bring clarity to the present. Look at how the chapter begins:

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in the days of old earned a good reputation.” — Hebrews 11:1-2 (NLT)

Joyful Noise

“Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” — Psalm 100:1-2 (ESV)
 
I recently had the privilege of helping lead three worship services at our church. I was reminded this morning, while reading my Bible, that singing and entering into God’s presence with music is a command from the Lord.

Billboards

I have driven across Wyoming about 50 times. During my most recent trip, I noticed a number of D.U.I. billboards. A marketing campaign was designed by Social Zinger to provide a sobering reminder of the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol. The billboards featured a sad mugshot with these captions: “Is this how you want to be remembered?” or “Think this is bad? Wait until you learn you killed someone.” or “Your license. Your dignity. Your job. Gone.” or “Think this is humiliating? Try explaining it to your kids.”

I think drinking and driving is a terrible idea. But, as I drove across Wyoming, I had a lot of time to meditate on these billboards. I realized an anti-DUI campaign is an easy campaign because most people are in agreement that it is a really bad idea. Drunk driving may lead to car accidents with injuries. Victims of accidents caused by drunk drivers should consider seek legal assistance from a personal injury attorney.

Ultimate Reality

“The reality however, is found in Christ.” — Colossians 2:17b

According to Webster’s Dictionary the definition of reality is, “The world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to that which is merely imaginary.”

I’ve been meditating on three realities about how awesome Jesus is; they have motivated me to want to share them with others.
