    Kindness

“Your kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy you.” Proverbs 11:17

What a simple but impactful verse to obey. Being kind will reward you; being cruel will destroy you. This can apply to your thoughts, your actions, and your words.

    Pray

Most of us would say we have room to grow in the area of prayer. Ask any Christian (who has a great relationship with God) if they pray much. I guarantee you they’ll tell you that they do. That’s because there’s no other way for us to communicate with God except through prayer. Yet, for some reason, so many of us fall terribly short in our prayer lives.

    Wrought With God

I’m getting more and more excited (and honestly a little anxious) as I think about our upcoming short-term mission trip to Stockholm, Sweden (May 26 – June 5). Our team of seven people is certainly comprised of some very capable people and I’m convinced the Lord has been leading us from the start. Yet, the enormity of just seven of us flying half way across the world to share Jesus in a foreign land is somewhat terrifying. I think I’m beginning to realize the only sensible position for us is to be wrought with God.

Parents — your children are SO BLESSED TO HAVE YOU! They are so blessed!

I went on a walk to stretch my legs and breathe some fresh air. It just so happened that it was also the time when many kids were getting off the bus after school. The tree-lined street was filled with children running to their respective homes.

This made me think of my kids. I thought about how quickly the time really has flown since they were born. The day is fast approaching when they will walk by themselves (without me or my wife next to them). That thought was both sad and encouraging to me. It was sad because they grow too fast but it was also encouraging because I know they are being equipped and loved every day as they grow.

    blessed

“Blessed be the name of The Lord now and forever.” Psalm 113:12

I recently read this verse in my quiet time and one word stuck out to me more than the others; the word was “now”.

It is easy to “Bless the name of the Lord” when things are going well. But, the word “now” implies the moment we’re in. Whatever this moment holds in your life, whatever situation “now” finds you in, you need to bless the name of the Lord. (more…)
