In the book of Mark, when the disciples were terrified of the storm, what was Jesus doing? He was taking a nap. When the disciples woke him up, screaming for Him to save them, what was His question for them? “Why are you so afraid?”
Beloved, there is no crisis that you are going to face that Jesus does not have the power to handle! Our Lord is present. He cares and He is able.

If you are anything like me, you know fear can find a way to rear its ugly head in our lives. Whenever we find ourselves in that place, we must remember to turn from our fear and turn to our Good Father. He cares for us. He is the stronghold in our lives.

This past week, six of your pastors from The Rock Church, went to a pastor’s conference in Indianapolis. For three days, we heard from many amazing preachers; they came together to teach on one central them — Evangelism. One sermon after another, we were charged and reminded why we should never neglect the incredible power there is in telling others about Jesus. I was filled with so many reasons why we MUST be people who share our faith. I’d like to share a few with you.

Happy Wednesday to you, friends. How is your week going so far? I know for many of you, you’ve got this week under control and everything is going off without a hitch. For others, you are so far behind that you’ve been looking for a reset button since yesterday. Wherever you may be, I want to encourage you and give you three reasons to stop and take a DIVINE TIME OUT. Stop everything you are doing for a moment and simply PRAY.

I recently read that Americans will spend an estimated $719 BILLION dollars this year on Christmas. That is up $100 billion from four years ago! I also read that 10% of presents bought this holiday season will break before New Year’s Day. And a little less than 25% will still be in working condition by next Christmas!

“If I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.” — 1 Timothy 3:15
Recently, as I was studying through 1 Timothy, I was struck by the Apostle Paul’s illustration of a pillar. Why a pillar? There’s no big theological concept behind the word; it doesn’t carry any special meaning. A pillar is, quite simply, a pillar. It has one job — to hold up whatever is on top of it. That is exactly what they are known for.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” — Philippians 4:8
The Apostle Paul reminded the Philippians that it was a good thing for them to regularly think about the things that would inspire worship and thankfulness to God. I wanted to remind us of that, too!
