  1. What God has Prepared

Made for Heaven — a word by Pastor Bill Young from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Undoubtedly, God has so much more for us in the future. Heaven awaits us. We will never be satisfied until then"

“However, as it is written: ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him’— but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.”— 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (NIV)

I recently taught on a section of verses from Romans 8. As a result, it got me thinking about Heaven. We are told in Colossians 3:1-2 to get our minds and hearts on Heaven and not be fixed on earthy things. As I tried to apply that verse, I was reminded of a Christmas at our home many years ago.

  2. Right Here, Right Now

Right Here, Right Now – a word by Pastor Billy Johnson from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "God (in His infinite wisdom) determined to put you and me right here, right now. We are to glorify and enjoy Him. He also prepared good works"

Do you realize that God could have chosen any time in history for you to live? Not only that, but He could have placed you in any geographical location to live your days. However, in His perfect sovereignty, He chose to put you right here, right now, for a specific reason.

In Acts 17:26 (ESV), Paul tells the deep-thinking Greeks that God “made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place.”

  3. Hope in Hardship

Hope in Hardship – a word by Pastor Bill Young from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "The Apostle Paul reminds us that to find true peace and hope during hardship, we need an eternal perspective on our problems."

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” — John 14:27 (NIV84)

A few weeks ago, I taught how to have hope in the midst of hardship. Many people told me that that message was precisely what they needed. I certainly needed to hear it, too! Life is always full of suffering, and there is no way to avoid it. In fact, Jesus promised, “In this world, you will have trouble.” (John 16:33b)

The reality of pain and suffering forces us to ask ourselves, “Where is my hope?” Jean-Paul Sartre, a well-known atheist, was agonizing over the thought of death. People heard him repeatedly say, “I know I shall die in hope…but hope needs a foundation!” I am eternally thankful to God for giving us a solid foundation on which we can have hope – even as we walk through the valley of death, difficulty, grief, and sorrow.

  4. Can A Christian Lose Their Salvation?

I was very stressed before my last teaching. And I’m sure I know why. I was preparing a message from some challenging verses in Hebrews 10:26-39. Not surprisingly, we all know there are some Bible verses that (at first glance) can rattle our faith. Because of this, they may even challenge our understanding of salvation. I was meditating on verses like that.

However, the Lord gave me clarity. Once again, I came to the settled peace that our salvation through Jesus is eternally secure. Even as I considered other options, it was obvious that the atonement of Jesus covers ALL my sins. For that, I am beyond grateful!

  5. Selah

Selah – a word by Pastor Steve McInroy from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "I wonder, if perhaps we are in a Selah moment? After all, God is Sovereign and orchestrates everything that has ever happened,"

Selah is a Hebrew word of unknown meaning — you’ll see it at the end of verses in the Psalms. While perhaps a musical direction, it’s traditionally interpreted as a blessing meaning “forever”. Whenever I encounter the word Selah in the Bible, I can’t help but think it has been carefully (and intentionally) placed there to catch my eye. Like the conductor of a great symphony, the Lord looks at me intently. He directs my very soul with His baton.

“Put them in fear, O Lord! Let the nations know that they are but men!” Selah — Psalm 9:20

  6. Excited About Heaven

Excited About Heaven – a word from Pastor Bill Young from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "heaven will make life on this earth seem like a dirty outhouse. Indeed, there will be joy beyond our comprehension"

“…set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:1-2 (NIV84)

Not long ago, I taught about the reality of heaven. It reminded me how amazing heaven will be compared to this earth. We have such a blessing waiting for us. This truth hit home for me during a particularly powerful experience a few years ago.

  7. A Simple Invitation

A Simple Invitation – a word by Pastor Tony D'Amico from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "My life was changed 18 years ago because someone gave my wife an invitation to The Rock Church. We should be on a mission to our city..."

A simple invitation could change the direction of someone’s life and eternal destination.

As part of our Mission To The City last week, a team of us passed out flyers around the Midvale City Park; we invited the neighborhood to a park party. We prayed together and broke down into smaller teams to distribute the flyers.

The group I was with had two littles who were thrilled about placing the invite on the doors. It was a great display of faith. They ran to the door, taped on the invite and ran back for the next one.
